  • Take control of your French Bulldog

Before you start training your French Bulldog you firstly have to show them that you are the one in control.  The best way to do this is by becoming the alpha leader of your family (pack).  Once your French Bulldog see’s you as this alpha leader then they will be more likely to listen to you and more likely to respect you – which will help greatly when it comes to training.  The top way to become the alpha leader is by doing everything before your French Bulldog.  For example, you should eat your own meals before you feed your French Bulldog.  Also, you should always enter and exit doorways before your French Bulldog.

  • Repeat Everything

Your French Bulldog will not remember everything straight away.  In fact, you will need to repeat everything numerous times.  As an example you will need to repeat the “down” command over and over again before your French Bulldog will know exactly what to do.

  • Rewards

When learning how to train French Bulldogs you cannot forget rewards as they are a great encouragement tool.  For instance, you could reward your French Bulldog when they complete the “sit” task completely.  This will encourage your French Bulldog to repeat their good behavior again in the future.  There are lots of things you can use as rewards including little treats, cuddles or even praise.

  • Limit Distractions

Before you begin a training session, it’s a good idea to have a look around to see if there is anything that may distract your French Bulldog.  For instance, remove any toys that may be lying around and put other pets out of site.  Doing this will allow you to have your French Bulldogs full attention for the training session.

  • Be Consistent

Consistency is so important when learning how to train French Bulldogs.  If you are inconsistent then you may confuse your French Bulldog and in turn this could jeopardize your training.  For example, if you choose the command “sit” then stick with this.  Do not confuse your French Bulldog by changing it half way through your training to something like “sit down now please”.  So remember – consistency is key!
